Our new web feature lets you instantly send an email to your MPP, Premier Ford, Education Minister Lisa Thompson, as well as Official Opposition critic MPP Doly Begum, who is tracking the growing chorus of concern about the child care cuts.
Following up on our successful petition campaign to keep the Provincial Wage Enhancement Grant, we also have official print petitions available in English and French to print, sign and share. Please return completed petitions by June 1st so that we can have them presented before the legislature breaks for the summer.
The OCBCC has been leading the campaign against the Ford government’s cuts of over $80 million to child care funding. At a press conference on Tuesday, we were joined by community members who are speaking out against the cuts. Vanessa Kelly drove from the Education Minister’s riding of Huron-Bruce with an open letter to her MPP saying that cuts “will make child care harder to access, more expensive, and put young children and families at risk.”
Toronto was the first municipality to crunch the numbers on the impacts of the child care cuts – estimating that over 6000 subsidies could be lost in Toronto alone. But this isn’t a Toronto issue only – every community in Ontario will be affected. We need MPPs right across the province to hear that their community is concerned about child care cuts. PC MPPs especially need to know that this issue matters in their riding. Please take a minute to send your MPP a message.
Thanks for all your support!
